there is no mark on my cps help

on my cps's driven gear there is no mark or protrusion or any difference between any of the individual teeth so nothing to line up with the groove on the hosuing

what should i do
any advice is much appreciated thank you

I've never seen one without the extra hole.

Is there an extra hole 90 degrees between the two pin ends that hold the gear on? That's the 'mark' you are looking for...

really cuz the tsrm says there is a pretrusion on the driven gear(the one you can spin)?

so if i should use that hole just line it up as dead center as possible?

i dnt have a functioning camera but i have the hole half way between the pins and im playing with that and a timing light to get it started

i can get it to go for about 3 seconds up to 1000rpm but it will immediatly die. its passing a lot of gas and also has no spark to cylinder five. wats goin on? i put in all new sparkplugs and replaced with a stock oem head gasket

This is the correct way to line it up.

Check your wire to plug #5. If the coil / igniter was gone, you would be missing 2 cylinders, not one.

ohh i see one pack runs through 2 sparkplugs so im prolly losing spark at 5 and another right? what could it be incomplete circuit ?? and if so which other cylinder is not firing ?

The coilpack outlets are numbered. Find the one that says '5' on it, and read the number from the other outlet...

If you're missing spark from both, then the coil or the wiring to the coil is toast.

If you're only missing spark from one, check the spark plug wire to #5, it's probably defective.

I seem to have the same problem dont seem to have any markings on the cps and it looks different to the cps picture posted by shaeff. i have attached some pictures of my cps. it is a jdm motor though. when i do align it according to tsrm and saheff's illustration the motor cranks and idles for maybe 2 seconds then dies. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

Same issue on my NA distributor, no mark on the gears like they say. I used the hole as a line up and it was totally off. I had to guess and check until i got it right.

Dude: Your off by a little bit, still, I think. You need to clean up the "rotor" in the center,and find the little groove in it. Read the caption, as well, as it has a helpful hint in it.

Thank you! i will try that out tonight. I also noticed i had a code 51 but i was thinking it mite be because i have no AC connected even though all the lines are still intact. so my question is would it not start if there is a code stored? if so how could i bypass it?

still no luck:nono: the reason i mentioned the code 51 is because when i try to start the car it just starts and idles for a few seconds then dies off. i was wondering if that code 51 would cause this?

Check your valve timing. A code 51 should not keep it from starting and running correctly.
