I just picked up a cheap ass Raven .25 today at the Spokane gun show. I usually carry a Taurus .45 but for reasons I wont get into for simplicity I dont have it available right now.

Hopefully if I ever have to use it, it wont just piss the bad guy off.

Im going to go look for some lightweight high-velocity ammo.

I am surprised that no one is talking about the Supreme court ruling on the second amendment. As to my knowledge i do not know the ruling.

I think there just going to make it so it would be a federal law to have a license for any and all guns making it a privilege. Despite the the founding fathers said that it was there to stand up against any government including are own... and that if our own government where to take it away to take it back with guns. Witch is what we did do back in 1776.

Like i said before, i think the NRA is going to back this up if the ruling does make it a licensed privilege then after time make you jump threw 20 hoops a finger ring over the moon and into a hat then you would be given your license that everyone will be able to get once said task is done. Once they make it a privilege they can set the standard in any way they see fit.

I like these guys http://www.gunowners.org/

can't believe i didn't jump on here sooner.

All of you are what's wrong with america. Can't you see that allowing anyone to posess a gun is wrong? Guns are responsible for 95% of the world's problems today. Everyone who owns a gun should be....

wait...

That's not right.

From left to right:

  1. Yugo 59/66 SKS (w/ Bayonet and 22mm NATO rifle grenade launcher) [7.62x39mm]
  2. Mossberg 835 Slug Gun (w/ Tasco Red Dot) [2.75", 3", and 3.5" Magnum 12 Ga.]
  3. Do not look at this shotgun. [20 Ga. breech load]
  4. Ruger 10/22 (w/ Weaver optics rail and Powerline 4-9X scope) [.22LR]
  5. Winchester Model 70 XTR Classic (w/ fold down iron sights and Tasco 9-16X scope) [.243 Winchester]
  6. Mosin Nagant m44 Carbine {stamp date of 1944, Tula armory} (w/ bayonet, has since been refinished in a lighter shade) [7.62x54mmR]
  7. Not Pictured: Century Arms PSL-54C {SVD-type AK} (w/ PSOP-1 4X side-mount scope) [7.62x54mmR]

Think what you will about the eastern bloc, but they do engineer some rugged, reliable, and badass weapons.

And of course, it's the '89 Turbo Targa 5sp in the back, with the '92 Bronco in the back of the back.

The ruling is in, and for once in favor of the Constitution. :) Hopefully this will ripple some positive effects in the direction of other places that choose to toss the Constitution out the window in the name of "keeping America safe"...

I envy you and love you at the same time go figure:biglaugh:

I hate freaking cali for their stupid freakin laws! I wish I could overthrow everyone here in our gov. I wish the state of texas would take over this state or soemthing! Im stuck with only owning handguns and single shot weapons. However, I am lucky because I am getting my hor changed to florida cause I am in the military. So now I will be able to attain better weapon systems.

I'm just going to copy and paste the email I just got from the Virginia Citizens Defense League. (VCDL is a local grass-roots 2Amndt. advocacy group.)

This is what VCDL's president had to say about the Heller ruling:

----------------------------------------------------------------------
VCDL's Gun Dealer Legal Defense Fund -- help fight Mayor Bloomberg's
scheme to cripple Virginia firearms dealers. See:
www.vcdl.org/index.html#DefenseFund
----------------------------------------------------------------------
VCDL's meeting schedule: http://www.vcdl.org/meetings.html
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The affirming and two dissenting opinions are in a 157 page document
that can be downloaded here:

http://www.scotusblog.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/07-290.pdf

My reaction to reading it the first time:

1. It says a blanket ban on popular self-defense guns, like handguns,
are unconstitutional (Chicago, here we come!).

2. It held a trigger lock and disassembly requirement, which makes
the firearm useless for self-defense, is also unconstitutional. (Yes!)

3. It does allow for a locality to require a license to possess a
firearm in the home (ugh), but requires that such license be
forthcoming and not denied arbitrarily and capriciously.

4. It says that carrying a gun in a person's home is protected, but
is silent on carrying outside the home. (That's because the Heller
case didn't address carry outside the home.)

5. It says that carrying CONCEALED firearms can be restricted or
prohibited (ugh).

6. It says that long-standing prohibitions on the possession of
firearms by felons (they should have said 'violent felons' in my
opinion) and the mentally ill are OK.

7. It also says that prohibiting carry in "sensitive" locations like
schools and government buildings are OK. (This is way too broad and
most government buildings are not sensitive. Military and government
intelligence buildings, yes. DMV or most other local/state government
buildings, no.)

8. Conditions and qualifications can be imposed on the commercial
sale of arms (like requiring a background check, apparently). Such
conditions and qualifications not being overly restrictive is not
addressed. :-(

9. "Dangerous and unusual weapons" are not protected (they consider
machine guns to be such a weapon since most people do not own them).

The logic in saying machine guns are not protected because most people
don't own one for self--defense (and hence are "unusual") is a
circular one. More people WOULD own machine guns if they were EASY
and INEXPENSIVE to get! But they aren't because of existing laws that
infringed on the ownership of such guns put in place back in 1934 and
1968. Sheesh.

So the end result is a mixed bag. People in DC (and hopefully soon,
Chicago) can now have a loaded gun, including a handgun, in their home
for self-defense and can move said gun around freely within their home.

It allows for a license requirement to have such a gun, but requires
the license be forthcoming and not denied on a whim.

It does not protect concealed carry in any way nor does it require
permits to do so not be arbitrarily and capriciously denied. This is
a battle that will have to be fought another day and one that is
quite possibly winnable.

Bans on carry in schools and government buildings and perhaps other
"sensitive" locations are constitutional. Because "sensitive" is not
clearly defined, this is going to be a headache.

We will continue to have the purchase of firearms loaded down with
qualifications and conditions. :-(

You must live in NY.

This is (one of the reasons) why I left and moved to GA..

I can wear out a gun down here faster than you can get one up there.

Yes. I'm definitely not staying longer than I have to. Getting a rifle/shotgun is not a big deal (personal record is 20 minutes from entry to exit of gun store), but the pistol permit is killer.

Heh. Same down here in GA. I think it was 20 minutes, but I was shopping for grips, mags & a new holster too.

You mean in and out in 10min with the handgun in hand? Or did you have to wait a couple weeks for the license to go through like here in cali? I dont think so but I just want to make sure. If so thats amazing! I have plans to move out of cali after my last yrs are up in the military.

I'd say with gun in hand since WV is the same way, except within Charleston city limits; there's a 3 day wait there. We don't have to license firearms here...
