My EGR is shot, its causing me quite a few problems especially with acceleration. I was thinking about removing it but only temporarily so i don't want to remove things like charcaol canister and EGR cooler and such along with it. So my question is, what to do with this vacuum lines? And yes i've searched but only found threads that start similar to mine but end up with a bunch of people arguing over whether the EGR is better to have on or not. I know those arguments, don't bring them here, a new/used one will be put on again when i have the $$. Thanks for any help. Pictures are always MUCH appreciated

are you sure its the valve? Try attaching a tube to the egr and sucking on it when the car is running. If the car car starts to run odd when you suck on the tube then goes back to normal when you are not then its not the valve.

Have you tested the VSV for the egr?

If you want it gone get a block off plate. They are cheap. Then just cap off the end of the vac line for the egr. Its easy to reverse that way.

The reason i know its toast is b/c i did boost leak test. I found 4 lol which is why i could only hold 7.7PSI at my max power. Of course i found this after my dyno tuning at $150/hr; i assumed it was a bad turbo at the shop since it has almost 170K on it, i couldn't be more wrong as the turbo is in MINT condition, freely spins almost 10 seconds by hand! 2 minor 2 rather significant leaks, one of the bigger ones was coming out of the EGR.

EGRVM must come off as well correct?

EDIT: could a bad VSV be causing the EGR to leak while the car is off?? Or at all?

Just to be safe you could cap it earlier on. I posted a tsrm pic. Some info on how the VM works

What do you mean coming out of the egr?

^Air escapes in rather large amounts out the bottom of the EGR, throught the vent holes when i perform the boost test.

Thanks for the pics

I think you need to take it off and block off the opening. Or replace the valve. You'll know instantly after that. You'll need to fab up a blockoff plate based on the shape of egr or buy a set.

^planing on it. Just have some tests this week so i need to do that first. I'm going to cut up the EGR and use the ends as the temp block off pieces. My buddy down here at school luckily has a welder, worst comes to worst i epoxy something rigid to the end pieces i cut off the EGR.
