Tanabe Exhaust for 600hp ???

Anyone running a full tanabe catback around these power ranges ? I m pretty set for 600hp w/ a gt4088 and full 3inch exhaust but inside the resonator the diameter dips to about 2.65-2.75 inches in the exhaust system... will this hinder the power capabilities or will it not affect it much ?

how are you measuring this? its a 3in exhaust and people have made that kind of power with 3 in exhaust. anything after 550-600 you should look into a 3.5-4in exhaust.

it does narrow down from 80mm. You can stick your hand in a 80mm pipe. Try sticking your hand in the muffler i can barely get 4 fingers inside. A lot of Japanese Performance exhausts do this, most likely im guessing for noise regulations. Some say the old GReddy SP was a full 80mm exhaust ALL the way through. Would like to get my hands on one to see.

is the red and green lines the same diameter on the smh or is the green line a smaller diameter than the red one?

at the entrance of the muffler and resonator yes they are the same diameter. Its less than 80mm for sure. to opens back up to 80mm as soon as it exits.

serious. i have a buddy that has the smh but my exhaust is welded all one piece from the turbo back so even if i had a dyno to do this on for cheap it would be a pain in the ass to do with out a lift. also i don't like revving my motor hard soo...

I still have my old greddy sp and i know for sure it was full 3inch... the Tanabe dips down significantly... AH this sucks man ! tanabe sounds sick ! I Think im gonna re-use my greddy sp and buy a 3inch resonator....

my greddy has a 3in resonator. its just like a flowmaster style resonator that says trust across it. yours doesn't?

I just told my buddy whos an ex-employee of Tanabe USA about this. Hes going to ask them wtf is up for me. Ill get back to you guys when he has an answer.

Heres what my buddy told me to day im quoting from AIM.

"I was there today to pick up some wheels, they said the best thing to do is if a lot of people are angry or dissastisfied is for them to call in. Unless the customer talks directly to the manufacturer, its tough to get the details. They havent heard anything about it"

So how many member on SM have a Tanabe SHM. I think we should start a poll, and start talking to Tanabe and see what we can do to change this. How do you feel about it?
