I have changed the bulbs to the back lights... after I press the brake for the first time, the light on the dash stays lit. Any suggestions/insight as to what this means???:1zhelp:

I use the standard bulbs for the tails... 1157 and 1156 are the numbers on the packages. Could I be using the wrong ones??? The book that is there at the auto parts store gave me those numbers.

Did you use LED bulbs? And do the lights actually work?

Those are the correct bulbs. I just wanted to make sure you didn't use LED bulbs...LED's don't provide enough resistance for the tail light sensor and will cause the dash light to illiminate even though the bulbs work.

Since you are using std bulbs, it's likely one brake bulb is not working. Turn your tail lights on and see if the dash light comes on...that would mean a tail light has a problem too. Get a helper to watch when you apply your brakes to see if one brake light is out. Likely it's corrosion on the contact to the bulb...a wire brush will fix that quick ;)

I believe the third brake light and possibly others are included too. Check those.

She has an '87...there is no spoiler brake light ;)
The blinkers are on a separate circuit...the sensor detects the tail and brake lights.

Do you mean she has a NA? My 1987 Turbo has a third light under the spoiler.

That's what I was thinking...you're right, the bulb could be burned out on that one as well. It's a std bulb I believe...the LED spoilers are on '89+ turbos.
