So I think I'm gonna rent a industrial strength steam cleaner this weekend and go to town on the engine bay and underside of my supra and probably my bathroom as well.

Any suggestions?

Only hit the fenders and firewall.

STAY AWAY FROM THE ENGINE AT ALL COSTS! Do not make any attempt to clean the valve covers, because you will only screw things up. Stay away from the cam position sensor as well. Be very, very careful sir.

steam cleaning will melt the oil and sludge right off the engine, they're really nice and some places do enginebays around ehre for quite a bit...

Shouldn't hurt anything, just make sure if you have an open element airfilter to cover it...

Use common sense?

Black and Poodles are being a bit extreme in their statements. Personally, I would "go to town" but avoid all electronics (wiring, coils, plug galley, ignitor, wire harness, VSVs and so on). Steam will readily condense and have a much easier time of penetrating cracks in wire insulation and getting past dried/shrinken seals of electrical connectors.

Simply put... just *think* about what you're doing and you'll be fine.

yeah... if everything is in good working order, the engine and electronics are pretty well sealed...

If of course you have a bad spot of hacked wiring (like my CPS wiring was) steer clear of it...

I've washed my enginebay plenty of times and never gotten water stuck in the plug valley (maybe I'm just lucky?)

I think staying away from the valve covers would be a good idea though. If water gets down in those galleys it can crack the plugs later.
I went through 3 sets of plugs cuz water got down there
