I have an 89 7MGTE 5 speed. Each day when I go to start my supra I have to let it crank over a few times.......stop......and crank it over a few more times till it starts up. I owned an 87 supra as well and it was the same. Is this just the way the cars are or is there something that can be done. I have new plugs and wires and know they are not the problem. Someone told there was a ground that you could sand and it should fire right up. Not sure if this makes sense. Any input would be great.

Usually one of 2 things:
1. the ECU is not getting a signal that you are trying to start. Usually caused by a faulty or disconnected clutch switch, or something else in that circuit.
2. Cold start injector may be clogged.
I had problem #1 that I daignosed and fixed, and it dramatically improved the cold starting, but it wasn't perfect. It was only after running a water/methanol injection kit for a little while that it began to start up perfectly every time. I believe the methanol cleaned my cold start injector

Cold start was my first guess. Pull it down, and notice all that oil and carbon build up. Mine was NASTY.
I've got the same problem I have a bad cold start injector....is yours very weak when it first starts?
aha....its deja-vu....I looked I have a broken cold start sensor It just won't connect anymore. Just called Toyota its like 80 bucks, I'm going to see what I can do to connect it without the clip. I think the mechanic that fixed some stuff on my car broke it because it wasn't doing this then all of a sudden the next morning it started doing this.
