There was a guy that i met in a MK3 meeting and he sprayed his whole engine bay with black under coating"i think that's what its called", it's like the same stuff that is underneath our cars that is like tar.
is this a good thing? would it heat up the engine?

If sprayed on the firewall it would likely add a small layer of sound deadening, but aside from that, I don't see a good reason to do it. Works great for off-road vehicles that get muddy, makes it nice and easy to clean the interior with a hose...

But does it trap heat?
Not sure, but I bet it would blend...

Seriously though, it's tar based in most cases (if not all), so yes, it would trap heat. Side effect though, it would keep your interior from getting engine bay heat... not so much a problem on Supras, but on Miatas, this sort of mod makes for a more comfortable car.

I don't think it would do too well if it got oil or gas on it though, it would probably turn into a sticky mess.
