Spark Plug Gap

I have read that in rich, high boost situations it is advised to reduce your spark plug gap. I'm interested to determine if anyone has done this with the 7mgte and if they have a "sweet spot" that they have found works best.
I ask because my car pulls hard to around 5000rpm and then loses its urgency and may even start to sputter after about 5200 or 5300. It feels similar to bad/fouled plugs but they were recently replaced. I gapped them according to the manual. I then drove the car and had the same issues. I regapped them but tightened the gap slightly. I still seem to have the issue but slightly less noticeable.
The car has lex afm, 550's, walbro fuel pump, upgraded CT26, 3inch down pipe, 3in exhaust, no cats.
At WOT, AFR drops below 10 and I definitely have black smoke. I know it's wicked rich...
There are no boost/vacuum leaks - those are checked for religiously.
I have tested for the problem at stock and higher boost levels and found it occurs regardless of boost level.

Classic sign/symptom of spark blowout, it usually happens at torque peak (5250rpm) I've ended up around 20 thou on high boost 7M's you can't go any lower with the "11" series plugs as the ground electrode deforms being so long.
