solid rear axle conversion

i'm just starting to build my car for drag racing and was wondering if anyone here has ever done a solid rear axle in a drag car, i'm pretty sure slow66 did at some point and i'm sure there are others but to anyone that has done it is there a rear that works particularly well in our cars also how much does it really help in the 1/4 time.

Not necessarily going to make it faster but it would definately be stronger.

that was another advantage i was thinking of too, gives you alot of selection w/ gears also
