Ive looked everywhere, but i cant find the answer. What size die is needed to perfectly thread the shifter? I want my stock shift knob back on i hate the set screw bullshit they suck. Please, someone help me on this.

Do you still have the old upper half?
You can cut the threaded portion off of it, plus about 1" of non-threaded length. Clamp the non-threaded part in a vice, and match a drill bit perfectly to the lower half that is in the car and drill through the piece that's in the vice. JBweld and let set overnight, or tack it in a couple places and you're good to go.

I posted about it in the SOGI thread, but I just bought a 12mm bolt at Home Depot, and cut it.
Then cut the skinny part of the shifter off and welded the cut bolt to it.
Pretty fun and easy.

brent. thing is i dont have a welder and i dont know that i trust jbweld. never tried it... any opinions on jb weld?

jbweld is a bitch to get off if it sets up correctly. we used it airsmithing to get stripped allen screws out. just jbwelded an allen wrench in the screw and broke the screw loose in the mornin, then just cut the wrench off above the screw.
but yeah, jbweld works great if it cures right. id still break out the taps and dies though.
