a fuckin copperhead!
hes just sittin on top of the air cleaner box. not moving. i thought it was prob dead . as a snake owner, i didnt try to grab it, or anything stupid as i knew what it was right away. so i pick up a wiper blade to "scoop" it out and little sob starts striking the blade.SHIT! so after messin with it for a few min tryin to get him out of the engine bay he takes off down the backside of the engine bay..i raise the vehicle to find him settin on the lower contr arm. poke at him and he finaly bails from the vehicle and is on the shop floor. all the guys got a kick out of it and were stunned at the same time. as was i. just when you think youve seen it all..

:stickpoke Hey man glad to see your a snake owner. I used to have two California banded king snakes. I ended up with one because the male ate the female. One time when I was younger I was picking blackberries for my mom when I looked down and was standing less than a foot from a copperhead. Luckily their not too aggressive or he could have bitten me. I know their poisonous but fatalities are very rare, but who wants to take a chance? Did you kill it or let it go? Glad to see you were'nt bitten.................lol

That thing is freaking huge. Looks like he's about seven or eight feet long. What do you feed him? Their used to be a snake farm about five miles from my house and I would go help them feed the snakes. They had cobras, rattlesnakes, and all kinds of other snakes. I hated to see them shut down.

That's pretty cool mazzer that you've had him so long. Off topic, but rats are freaking nasty canibals. At the snake farm they had huge cages with the rats to live until it was their turn to be the meal. They would be walking around with huge holes in their bodies where other rats would be eating them alive. They will eat absolutely anything that doesn't eat them first. I know you know this already, but you have to be careful feeding some snakes a large rat. If they aren't hungry the rat could bite them and cause infection..........lol

Wow that is crazy!! I am glad you didn't get bitten!! Now when I go to work I will be looking at every intake box a little more cautiously!! this might be a weird request but it would be cool to see a video of your snake eating one of those giant rats!!

hahaha thats crazy. Snakes are cool animals, just 'cause theyre so different.
Glad to here you didnt do anything stupid.

I've had a close encounter with a copperhead one time when i was hiking/camping in Red River Gordge KY. I was walking down a trail out front of everyone else and I must not have been watching the trail in front of me. I heard my uncle say something like 'stop, look at this'. So i turn around and see a copperhead going across the trail right where i just stepped! damn i mustve stepped right over it. Luckily for people moving down the trail, we watched it slither all the way to the bottom of the hill, clear outta the way.

Yeah copper heads are beautifully colored. Luckily for me and trydrew they are not aggressive unless provoked.

Haha At work today I was putting a battery in a car and my boss goes "hows the air filter on that?" like he always does. and I go "I don't know, and I'm not about to find out..."

im fine about snakes until i come around them in person and then thats when i want to just kill em before they get me. But your story reminds me of a time when i went to a junkyard to get some parts. I popped the hood and started taking off an accesory hooked onto the positive battery cable, and i just so happen to turn my head to the right and there sat a f' in snake sitting on the battery just watching me. Well i was going to let him stop me from getting my parts so i got a branch and hit the snake to make him go away. But the bastard just sat there until i finally shoved him off the battery and he slithered near the firewall and i never seen him again.

Kind of off topic, but have you guys ever heard of anyone being able to smell a snake? The reason I ask is because my stepmom and I were out walking in the woods behind our house once and she was like stop I smell a snake. And of course im like your crazy as hell you cant smell a damn snake (i stopped though, hehe) But sure enough we looked around for about 20 sec and there was a copperhead sitting on some leaves.

Ive never smelled a thing, but she says they smell like watermelon, lol.

she was prolly pullin your leg, and saw it before u did.
snakes smell more like moldie algy,
I live about 1/4 of a mile from a large creek, almost big enough to be a river, every summer we go swimming in it, and there are copperheads all over the place. like someone said they only attack if the get cornered, most run away if the animal is bigger.
we dont kill them just let them roam around, they are part of the pretator/prey cycle so they need to be there.
that one in your pic is pretty big, biggest ive seen was about 6' and about as round as a baseball.
get that vid up. i wanna see it too. :)
