Alright. Finally got her on the road. Running and boosting beautiful!!! I can drive it all day long without a single problem until....


If I try to start the car when hot...
example:
If You stop for gas, shut the car off, gas it up, then try to start it again...

The car wants to Idle at 3,000RPMS.

It only does this if the car was started when hot (not overheating, just hot)

Sticky cold start injector? maybe... but the car isnt running rich in anyway.

Any help would be appriciated. Would like to figure this out.

A cold start injector will not add fuel at startup when the vehicle is at operating temp or when "hot" unless there were some other problem. if you have not done so yet, check for codes, look for any vacuum leaks and make sure the idle speed control is not malfuntioning when hot.

Also, how are you able to determine you are not running rich?

No Mods. No Check Engline Light.

I've gone over all the vacuum lines many times.

I'm "guessing" i'm not running rich. aka no smoke.

How else can I go about testing the ISC?

First up, check for codes, whether you have a check engine light or not.

What have you done recently? It's usually something you just fussed with that causes problems.

Did you hook up the FPR VSV, under the front of the intake manifold, correctly?

It has recently been rebuilt. The Wiring harness is alittle hacked (was like that when I bought the car) so that is a very possible issue. I'll prolly need to check everything with a meter. I will end up replacing the entire harness soon. Even if it isn't my problem now, I know it will be up the road.

I'll check the FPR VSV just in case.

Will it really set a code with no CEL? I'll go ahead and check it as well.

I'll be down at the shop on Thursday, So I'll look through it.

Yup. Start here and read the next few pages. It will explain how many flashes are which code and what each code is.

Well so far today. Been driving it around for 2 hours, just runnin errands close to home. She wouldn't act up once for me to start pulling codes. I honestly don't think it fixed itself, But when the issue comes up again. I'll check for codes.

hopfully I can get this resolved quickly. kinda hard to diagnose a running engine idling at 3000RPMs, don't like letting it run like that haha. When it does it I'm cringing and gritting my teeth.

Yeah it's the idle air control. It's stuck open. bypassed it, gotta feather the throttle when cold now, but purrs like a kitten when at operating temp.

I think I'm just gonna sell the car...My heart Belongs to the RX-7 and it's killing me to keep spending money on the supra when I don't really care for the car. (not saying supra's are bad, just not my kind of car)
