87 Turbo, 130K miles, car has good comp, oil pres, and is running in stock form.
When I start the car cold, at about 3K RPM I get a screeching noise that sounds similar to belt screeching. It goes away after about 3 min. of driving, as the engine heats up. But the more I listen, it sounds more like a metal-on-metal screech than a rubber-on-metal screech. Im worried that the turbo has excessive coking and isnt getting good oil flow at cold start. Is this common? Ive searched for coking problems, but havent found much.
I guess it could be power steering also, but no leaking and wheel feels fine- theres
isnt a power/no power feeling
Turbo has minimal play, I get oil smoke about 1 of every 5 times I start the car cold( after sitting for 6+ hours). The smoke goes away instantly every time.
After warm-up, no sound and good boost- tops out at 5 or so- for stock.
Thanks for good opinions
