Running Rich!!!

On my 7mge i continually smell the rich smell from the exhaust. I have adjusted my TPS, my timing is right on, new air filter, new spark plugs. I have no idea what is causing it to run so rich. I can occasionally smell it while cruzing down the highway but i smell it most when it is parked, and running while i am walking around or near the car. WTF!!!! i have no idea. Your help is greatly appreciated!

ALSO, i can see in the tailpipe there is alot of black buildup, the exhaust from the cat back is brand new so this is very recent.

Is there black smoke or are you smelling a roten egg smell? Roten egg smell would be your cat working. Also the 7m tends to run rich normally.

Hows your gas milage?

check your o2 sensor per tsrm. or if you can borrow one try that.

there is no black smoke, but when i look inside the tailpipe i can see black suit buildup. Gas mileage is 20 to 21 and i drive about 70% highway, 30% city. I do not smell a rotten egg smell, more of a rich smell and it burns my eyes and throat just a little

Sounds like the fuel is vaporizing, Does your car ever idle rough or not stay idling after you turn it off and then start it back up a few min later?

My car has the same problem and when I turn it off and then turn it back on it wants to cut off. Have any idea whats the problem?

yup same issue as 91 supra turbo. it runs rich, and sometimes after i start it back up, it will idle really rough, then after about 10 seconds it straigtens out. i put a new o2 sensor on the exhaust manifold, adjusted my tps correctly, timing is perfect on 10 dbtdc, what is going on. i really cant figure it out.

Yeah I have a 91 supra turbo and does it everytime. I have no trouble codes or anything.
