How's it going guys? I've been dormant for a while, but I've gotten the itch to finish my car once and for all. Aside from buttoning up some odds and ends, I had a few questions concerning my fuel system.

Right now I am running a single MK4 denso fuel pump. I had a terrible experience with a Chinese knock-off Walbro and vowed never again. The Denso pump works great, but I'm concerned I may need more fuel.

My current set-up is as follows:

Fully Built 7MGTE
-Balanced Crank
-.40 JE Pistons
-Crower Rods
-HKS 2.0mm Stopper HG
-Titanium Retainers
-Dual Valve Springs
-Stainless Steel Valves
-Ron R. Long Runner FFIM
-Q45 90mm Throttle Body
-PTE 680cc Injectors
-Frankenstein 5 Greddy TD06-20g (Garret E60 Compressor Wheel, flows 750 cfm)
-PWR Racing Radiator
-AEM EMS
-MkIV Supra Denso Pump
-Etc, Etc.

The turbo is supposedly rated to 30psi, but at most, I would run 20-23psi with race gas for a dyno session. The goal is 500rwhp which should be attainable considering others have come close running a stock TD06.

I've contemplated running an Aeromotive A1000 along with denso pump. However, I really do not feel like sumping the tank. I know people run dual Walbro's all the time. My question is, has anyone ever run dual Denso MK4 pumps? If so, are there any necessary precautions I should take and how would I go about wiring them?

Here's a recent shot. Don't mind the mess. It has been a while.

Any advise is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
-Mo

I don't know much about the Frankenstein 5 20g, but I know a regular 20g wouldn't get close to 500 rwhp. What's the turbine specs?

Also, for dual fuel pump setups, I'd run some type of fuel pump controller. IIRC AEM makes one that you can tell to turn on, such as 10+ PSI or above X RPMs. If you do run a controller, it'll keep your fuel from heating up inside the tank. What else are you doing to the fuel system? Are you running bigger lines? Dual feeding the fuel rail?

Most of the information on these turbos is gone since no one uses them, but I was able to find the following link:

http://www.starquestclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=87350

Essentially the Frank 5 = Garret E60 trim compressor wheel, unclipped TD06H turbine, and aTD05H 7cm2 housing. It has a 2.290 inducer, and a 2.950 exducer. A standard TD06 flows 650 CFM, where as the Frank 5 flows 750. A stock TD06-20G is rated at 430-450hp @ 22 psi and the Frank 5 is supposedly rated at 590 I believe.

As of right now the fuel system is stock aside from an AFPR, MK4 pump, dampener removal, etc. I am basically looking for suggestions on which direction I should go.

Thanks!

If you run twin 044 pumps, I'd run bigger fuel lines with an fittings to a dual feed fuel rail and a -6 return. Delete all the banjo fittings going to the fuel filter as well.

The turbine housing will make it hard for that turbo to hit your desired whp. 7cm2 is like a .4x a/r.

Thanks for the replies guys. Much appreciated.

I think I'm leaning towards a surge tank set up.

Just use a pump to supply the surge tank from gas tank and then you can run a single or dual fuel pumps.

The mercedes amg pumps that people are calling the veyron pump would be enough for over 700.

I just run a single Walbro 400 (always buy from an official dealer)

Folks have been having great results with them provided you run proper voltage like with the others :)

Why is that? For 500rwhp you don't need dual pumps.

Agreed, I run a single Denso 285Lph denso pump with the 12v mod at close to 500whp with no issues. I would think the stock line size would need to be upgraded at the point you would need to run 2 pumps. Anyone recall at what whp you need to step-up to larger fuel lines?

400LPH walbros are badass, probably the best in tank pump on the market. So quite, really good price. I have one in my car now, and the new car is getting two in the tank. There is no reason to go to dual pumps for only 500hp.

Exactly what I was thinking

I'm kind of curious about this as well, with even a bolt on turbo if you wanted to run E85 one pump won't be enough. Is there something bigger that will drop right in, like the MKIV pump does?

Or hey, maybe someone has done dual MKIV pumps.

Actually, a single 400lph will flow enough for ~700whp provided you run the proper lines and injector size (regardless of fuel).

I don't think it would cover 700 whp from a single.

It would be on the edge. There was a mk4 a while back on a single 400 e85 pump running 750hp in a 6 speed car.

Since this thread got brought back up, I just ordered my dual walbro 400 pumps for my car along with the rest of the e85 system. cant wait to start

Not a direct comparison, but my Aeromotive Stealth 340 pump made 620whp on E-85 when the second one died. I could totally see a 400 doing a lil more.
