rod knock

so i bought a car that has developed a rodknock idk whats the cause of it. so what do i do? take it to the machine shop?

your going to need..

-new rings and pistons
-maybe new rods (depending how bad it is)
-new oil pump
-new bearings
-arp studs
-mhg

now at the machine shop
-get head resurfaced 30ra or better
-head pressure tested
-valve job
-cranck checked
-rods checked
-maybe have your block bored depending on what you plan on doing

you might as well get gasket kit also....

thats all i can think of right now good luck..i went through the samething.

forgot to put that the engine was rebuilt 90 miles ago!

i know the guy and he did rebuild it so es he told me but also ive seen him rebuild it

Why dont you check your oil level and what color it is and then give the guy a call if its good.

or at least drain the oil and look at what comes out for metal shavings or other signs of failure.

wow. a 90 miles 7m rebuild. again. I hope it was due to no oil and not another noob rebuilding a 7m without proper procedures. Hope you get it all sorted out!

yea there seems to be a lot of those than they go 1j and part out half way through...
