Glad to hear, that is great news. Now buy a set of quality cam gears and stay off that China crap. Titan gears are rebadged Fidanza gears. I have never heard of any problems with the Fidanza gears.

however now ther is a new problem.
Intake cam gear. Aftermarket OBX. Bolt must have loosened over the couple months, not much at all though as it was still on quite tight. However it slowly ate away a bit of the gear, (cam appears ok). The gear i notice as it rotates shifts very slightly up and down while the exhaust one only moving radially.
The first i noticed the gear was loose i touch it. I was able to move backwards and forwards by pushing the top of the gear towards the firewall.
Question is....now what? anyway to fix this or do i just need a new gear?

Had to shorten the bolts by 3mm.
(mine wouldn't turn at all though scared the crap out of me I thought the Valves were hitting the pistons when I changed to a 2mm MHG)

Start by making sure the gears are ok...i.e. the pin holes are not elongated. If they are the gear(s) are trashed and you need to get quality ones. If they are ok, make sure the washer is in place and the bolt is torqued to spec...use blue loctite on the threads.
Whew...RK would have been a very bad thing.
IJ.;926219 said:Just buy some AEM's
(glad it's NOT RK though)
jdub;926383 said:The round hole for the cam pins, top of the bolt...meaning no longer round
I'm thinking the same thing as IJ...AEM or Fidanza gears.
And, if the gear is bent, it's a no brainer.
jdub;926441 said:Yes...the hole on the gear. If it's no longer a tight fit on the pin, the gear is FUBAR.
jdub;926481 said:Think about that for a second and what the cam gears do
I know you're a college student without a lot of available $$$...are you really using the adj cam gears for what they are meant to do?
Think a set of stock cam gears might be a better option?
suprarcr89;926482 said:glad to hear it wasnt a rod knock....
and when you did the boost leak test did you undo your pcv on the throttle body and put a cap there if not that would be why air got into your crankcase.....
jdub;922828 said:And did you have the rods re-sized?
Clearances on the rods?
Did it EVER run low on oil after the build?
