Rear Ended - Contest:Guess the cost repairs

Well, the project I was working on in Baltimore ended today so my co worker and I were on our way back to MI, with a stop in Washington, PA to inspect another project we did a couple months back. He was following me in the company piece of shit 3/4 ton Chevy van I sold them a year ago. I was in the '03 Saab I bought 2 months for work. We made it to PA without a problem and were exiting the freeway to check in to our hotel rooms for the night. I pull up to the stop sign and wait for traffic to clear and then...SMACK! He plowed into me at 10- 15 MPH. At least I wasn't in the supra.

My first impression was that someone behind him must have pushed him into me. So we pull over and I get out to look at the damages. Suprisingly all my lights still work, but the rear end is thrashed pretty good. No one hit him though. Apparently his shoe got caught on the corner of the brake pedal and he couldn't unstick it fast enough to stop.

I called my boss and told him what happened. I asked if they just wanted to just pay the deductable so my co-worker doesn't get any points or a ticket. Nope...he's screwed. So we're going to file a report in the morning since we had to get to the jobsite after the accident.

The damages :3d_frown:

The guy that hit me wants to report that he backed into me in a parking lot to avoid a ticket. Do you guys think that's a bad idea?

Let's have a contest to see who can guess the cost of repairs. I'm going with $2750.... when guessing note that Saab charges $8 for a hex screw to mount the license plate.

Need better pictures to see how much of the support is messed up, but I'm going to guess 3150, if you get it fixed at a good shop.

Yeah, I think about high 3k-mid to low 4k range.

And no, id just use the rear ended idea.. since it sounds more plausible.. that kinda damage doesnt happen by being backed into.

That sucks dude ><

Needs a whole new trunk, possibly new bumper supports, new bumper bumper and bumper... that's gonna cost, I'll say 6 grand.

I wouldn't lie... insurance companies get a bit uptight about that sort of thing...

making that much damage while backing up he would have needed to go about 30-40mph.

but since he was going forward 10-15 like he said he did makes sense??

im going with 2800 - 3200 unless saab has stupidly unnessecary priced paint like most more expensive cars, that may bump it up

Does working in a body shop disqualify me?

I work at a body shop too... so you should know as well as anybody that you can't see everything that needs to be seen from those pictures...

Bumper, pumper support, trunk lid, trunk latch, passenger taillight, possibly some ripples into the 1/4 pannels (check inside your gas lid ;)) trim and paint. my guess is 5300 minimum without the frame getting hurt. All of those parts being new OEM.

I hate accidents. I got hit in my DD today too... a Silverado made my left rear door match the right from where a deer ran into me last month.
