Tips for a deeper sound:

#1. Run good quality mufflers. Don't run mufflers that use cheap fiberglass packing. Stainless steel wool is a good way to get a deeper tone cause of the density of the material. Chambered mufflers tend to make the car deeper as well, but it might drone a LOT.
#2. Run more than one muffler. Running a straight pipe all the way to the back with one muffler is not only going to be LOUD, but raspy.
#3. Run a catalytic converter.
#4. Since you're running 2.5 inch piping, I wouldn't recommend the following since the sizing is already good, but another way for a deeper tone is having larger diameter piping.

Woot for post-puberty Honda exhaust tone!

If you want rasp gone run a good muffler and a better resonator. Generally, you'll see a much smoother sound than just running two straight through mufflers (it depends on the construction of course.. many resonators are built just like mufflers).

Test pipe on a N/A = fail. If you're worried about restriction AND sound invest in a good high flow cat.

Chances are your muffler bearings are out, go to drifmotion.com for new ones.

Why the hell would you put a test pipe on an NA? Get a cat and like a million mufflers on there like the people before me said.

Add a turbo muffler. ;) (google it)

Are you making a joke about adding an actual turbo (to act as a muffler, haha) or are you talking about those 2-3 chambered mufflers? :)

Also, I added the "tips for having a deeper sound" into the N/A Upgrade FAQ for future questions like this.

Did you Google it?

Yup, turbo muffler is a term that was coined because of how well a turbo smooths and quiets exhaust noise. Sorry guys, though the term exists, most states very specifically state that a turbo/turbo muffler does not constitute a muffler and is therefore no substitute. ;)

Well I did a lot of research on muffler "types" so I already knew the way it muffled, but now after this post, I actually know where the name itself comes from. Haha

I have a 3" test pipe and a 2.5" Pacesetter Catback system on my N/A, It sounds really raspy, Noticed a gain in my top end power but lower end power is suffering. Got the whole setup used locally for $80 so I cant complain but im going to be re-installing my cat for sure and maybe adding a resonator or a quieter muffler, It would be a sweet setup on a turbo car though for sure.

I will never get why people put test pipes on cars...

You're gaining nothing over having a cat on there.

It's cheaper to go test pipe then replacing a clogged catalytic converter but yeah, I'll never get it either :)

Two words: Race Fuel

If you aren't running leaded race fuel, you've got no excuse for not running a cat.
