You can argue with him on price for work quality, but good luck. As far as him saying "aftermarket" radiator, that looks stock to me? almost identical to mine, except mine was out of an auto trans 7m. Sometimes it really is no more than solder, or brazing depends on the radiator i think?

its always worth a shot to try and work somethin out.

Dude, wow, dude. Was going to comment about where the gorilla with the welding torch was that did that shit, but I'm just shocked.

So, what is the "liability" statute for taking OUT the rad?

Alum rads are only good for 1/4mile. No wonder there are so many of 'em in performance cars/trucks in this day and age. Guess they swap out with the factory rads every day for daily drivers.

Those "plastic alum" rads will get you every time...

Yeah, dumping in Prestone followed by squirting in a hose is FAR more precise than either buying 50/50 or mixing your own. 50/50 causes all sorts of bad juju to happen, like how it forms an acid cloud that eats away at your interior and lungs every time you cut the car on.

Stuff in a paper envelope, probably from "Stop Leak", a can he had on the shelf from the 60's/70's. There's the "secret ingredient" that makes magical things happen to the coolant system. Great mod!

Ohh, and all his stuff is "guaranteed warranty-work"....

Dude, seriously. I would not even put that rad back in your car. It's no telling WHAT they did to it while you weren't looking. If you have to, use it for short bursts until you get a brand new alum one or factory replacement (alum one FTW!), but definitely don't run it for extended periods for the safety of yourself and your car. And give everybody the address of this character so we can all steer as far away from him as possible.

Good luck, really. What happened to you was not funny in the least.

I don't understand the liability issue either... they didn't even take it out of my car I drove it there in the trunk of my mom's car and handed it to them. Then the fat guy started unbolting the fan shroud.... if he can take it off why can't he put it back on?

They were so unorganized it didn't even make sense, they had no procedure at all.... He said come back in 30 mins and it was done by then. I doubt he even pressure tested it because first of all I didn't see any equipment capable of pressure testing.

I feel it's my fault for leaving with the bill settled and probably going to be very difficult getting them to refund any of it..

pressure test and flush it before you use it, if it holds i wouldn't hesitate to use it, its a simple repair.
You can rent a pressure tester from autozone for free by the way.
