i want to run nitrous on my 7m. i have no clue if this is smart, so before i go blowing a perfectly new and good engine i figure i should ask for some advice. my engine is as follows: wiseco pistons, stock rods, fully balanced and blueprinted crank, shot piened block, stock valves, stock cams, ARP everything(head, main, rod). i might have missed a few other tid bits of info on my engine and will update later but i think thats it. so wat would be the safest way to run nitrous. i know its never safe, but wat precautions should i follow? how much would be safe with my engine? should i use wet or dry? fogger or or intercooler? any info would be greatly appreciated.

hmm...what kind of headgasket do u have???

i would go for a wet system.. so u can add additional fuel while spraying nitrous. i think you would be safe with a 75 shot.. you should probally get a pyrometer or EGT and keep an eye on the exhaust gas temps. also maybe a wideband so you can monitor AFR's more closely.

Nitrous IS safe if you use a wet system and you get a good kit that includes all the failsafes and install it correctly.

Cheap kits, and especially the dry kits are dangerous...

100 shot should be no prob. Use the full throttle switch and if you are pretty savvie use a boost sensor(not sure what its called) but if boost falls out under a set perameter (for instance a coupler craps out or you blow a pipe off) it will cut the nitrous. Be smart, dont spray below 3 grand and use a colder plug and you should be fine. When tuning, start with the rich jets and work you way down. Be smart and you will love the benefits.

from what i remember (correct me if im wront) some of the nos companies have smartened up the nitrous delivery. where they are computer controlled to apply nos at a gradual rate. so it will introduce a little and work its way up to the full 75, or 100 hp shot over the course of a few hundred HP. this will reduce the spike in the combustion chamber pressure and will LOWER the risk of nitrous. youll still have to worry about running lean.
