A friend of mine commented about how she was able to get a "switched" catalytic converter for her Monte SS that allows her to switch the baffle plates in the assembly to "open" at the flick of a switch, and also said there are mufflers out there that do the same thing.
Apparently for added horsepower, you flick a switch in the cab that opens up the pathway inside the cat/muffler to allow direct flow of the exhaust like a straightpipe, increasing horsepower and noise at the same time, then switch it back for normal operation on command. The benefits are ENORMOUS for this type of modified approach, since you remain factory for inspection and legal purposes, and surprise the bejezus out of the occasional racer tooling up to your car for a little late-night "F-n-F". Couple this with a "hot" button for electronic boost control, and you leave the competition flat-footed while switching everything off for the lurking LEO waiting to tag you. Anyone heard about/done this??
