Powersteering PPS valve

Hey guys,

I hooked up the vacuum lines to the PPS valve (near the bottom radiator piping) as it was blocked off previously. It is working correctly, but my car randomly dies under braking. It happens at least once per drive and its dangerous.

I'm thinking this is more an electrical problem, though is there any particular way the inlet/outlet is supposed to go?

eg. accordian --> left inlet, vacuum line on block --> right inlet or vice versa?

Dude, the line that goes from the bottom of the accordion hose isn't the PPS valve. The PPS valve is on the other side of the engine, next to the AC compressor. All that does is allow extra air into the intake when you are putting a lot of load on the steering - I.E., when you are at a standstill and cranking the wheel.

It doesn't matter which line is hooked up to which nipple, and it certainly shouldn't have any effect that would kill the engine while braking.

well i might be wrong on this one but i just thought i'd give it a shot....:aigo:

do u have an aftermarket blowoff valve??
because i had the same problem and a couple of the supra guys over here told me it was due to the air blowing off into the atmosphere and not being recirculated and since i didnt have any kind of fuel/air device it would shut off

usually i had to pedal the gas to keep the idle up but like i said i dunno im just throwin it out there....

Yeah i wasnt saying that was the valve. But it does get connected to the valve near the rad hose right?

I do have an atmo vent bov but it never used to to this until i hooked the lines up. I have noticed it operates differently too. It doesn't vent as much as it used to.

you know i think you might be on the money here. I'm going to block it off again tomorrow and see if it does it again.

Well, ive chnaged it back to the original configuration, and its back. I read in an older thread people had the same problem.

Under braking the cars idle drops to 200rpm and sometimes dies. Has anyone solved their previous problems like this?
