Power Steering Mod?

I have been looking for mods on power steering coolers for My 91 N/A And Im a little confused on two parts and I was Hoping for some advice, Tips, and suggestions. I had thought of doing this mod Since I had an extra $75 Sitting about from a bonus, So I Followed the lines coming off the PS resevoir to a Hard line that "V's" in front of the Radiator. Obviously the lines from there Go to the rack... So On.... So Forth...

#1 But That "V" that im seeing Is that the OEM PS cooler?

#2 If considering A Braided SS PS line upgrade, Would that interfere With wanting to fit a cooler into my old Fog lamp duct?

there already is a small PS cooler on the vehicle. It runs under the stock air box and out in front of the AC condensor.

Avoid a braided SS line. There is a 1000+PSi running through those hard lines. Keep them hard.

There are two versions of the stock cooler:
- '87-'90 (iirc) is jut a simple loop of tubing above the IC
- '90+ has the same loop, but fins like a proper cooler were added to increase efficiency.

The cooler loop is on the return from the rack...it does not see anywhere near the pressure the pump puts out to the rack.

Stainless line is OK, but be careful routing it. It is very abrasive to anything it touches. A lot of guys have used the stock GTE oil cooler as a P/S cooler....you can also mount a rail type tranny cooler in the stock location.

So then rather than opting for a compact PS cooler, Would it be more recommended To mount a Transmission Cooler in the same location rather than attempt to make an OEM Part "Better" when proper Hard lines are already taking care of it?

(Side note: As far as the SS PS lines mod goes, Doesn't baker Precision offer lines that can withstand 1000+ psi anyway? Then you could Wrap the lines with the SS braid to have a Similar look right? Especially if they didn't offer a SS hose that can withstand The psi surges for sale? It wouldn't look as great but you'd still have the AN connectors.)

The rail type are on the top...the P/S coolers will work too, but will not do as well a job due to their smaller size.

Like I said, there is no high pressure on the return side of the system. Std stainless braided line will work fine (if you like the bling). Personally I would use push lock hose and call it a day...much easier to fit on the stock tubing/nipples vs AN.

oh wait read that wrong but is the a way to change high pressure side without pulling engine or rack. sorry for thread jack wont happen again
