my power antenna for the my radio came up once about a month ago but now it just stays down. I can hear the motor working, the antenna just does not want to go up. Any solutions to this problem?

Could be the toothed nylon line inside it is stripped. I think you *might* be able to tear the whole unit apart and just swap out that line or its drive gear, which ever is stripped.

Here is some information on the antenna:

Since you have the 87 spoiler, you could get the aftermarket one sold at AutoZone and install with no problems at all.

You would only have to connect two wires and ground. If I recall correctly it’s (circle A) Red3 and the other one is (circle A) Black-Red2. Verify your own wiring.

What if you have no motor sound, I'm thinking that the wire at the aftermarket radia (came with car) may not be sending the signal to work the antenna. Have a spare and no worky with the spare plugged in also.

Anybody know what wires to probe to verify is getting the signal, mine is a 91 model?

Thanks

I have had like 2 power antennas, both broke down (no point in getting a new one), cause the antenna comes up when the ignition is on, goes suddenly down when it starts, and then again up when the engine runs....So both lasted maby 2 months or so...

Just get a GM mini adapter, and plug your stereo into the other antenna, the one that's built into the rear hatch glass.

thats what I did so I could shave the hole on my spoiler. It gave it a nice clean look without sacraficing am/fm.
