Well i noticed this a couple nights ago, the knock sensor (according to SAFCII) was registering anywhere from 0-3HZ from the sensor. This only happened at an idle (which is around 9-1.1K). I figured that couldn't be good since its always been zero. Now today i noticed it reading anywhere from 0 to up and over 23Hz! And now the reading stays most of the time throught the RPM from 1-5Hz. Idle more normally now is between 12-18Hz, sometimes it hangs between 1-6Hz at idle, sometimes 0. As soon as i press the accelerator it goes down drastically. Is knock reading normal or just plain bad and just a hint of what may come later? :1zhelp: :1zhelp: :1zhelp:

whats spark knock?? It started since the last tune FYI, my sparks have les than 2K miles on them but they were run rich as hell the first 1500 miles..could that be the problem?. Also there is a strange vibration periodically, i notice it most at an idle and it seems to be in sync with the craziness of my A/F guage going from lean to rich and back and forth. the vibration is unpredictable and can happen anytime, 99% of time it has to be in gear, im not sure if it happens out of it.

i know that our injectors can get VERY loud when dirty or old.. and will tick.. but as far as the knock sensor... My guess is vibration of the engine is sending trace amounts of shock to the sensor?? i do know that if you have a miss or bad idle, the engine will vibrate somewhat.

Sorry if any of this info sounds retarted.. its just my guess / tidbit.

detenation, not enough fuel. a fowled plug (mis-firing) could cause it but i would just start by adding a little more fuel at idle (800rpm-ish). wat kinf a/f gauge- wide or narrow band?? narrowbands will jump back and forth while cruising, its normal. u should get wideband, thats wat u need to properly tune with afc.

Car has been tuned w/wideband. My guage is narrow. I know it will jump but it just never did as much before at an idle. Idle is alreayd way above 800 at .9-1.1K, my EGR has a pretty good leak in it im guess that's my idle problem.

make a note of where the afc is set now (as reference point) and add more fuel at around 900-1000rpm- see wat happens. if the same issue, check plugs or u got something else goin on. if it fixes it, put on steal toes, go back to dyno, and kick each and every one of them in the nuts. ur using premium gas, right?

thats a camry, not a turbo straight 6, WHOLE different ballpark

I think you'd be surprised just how alike they can be. Beside the obvious straight 6 vs V6 and turbo non turbo. THey use a lot of the same basic principals in all their engines
