Piston carnage

I know it's been forever and a day since I've made a post or new thread. I recently had a little time to investigate my first rebuilt engine after it lost compression on cylinders 1 & 3. There was approximately 3K miles on it. Here are the culprits:

any ideas why the ring landings would've fragmented?

thanks Ij. I was under the impression that detonation would begin to burrow a hole in the top of the piston. But i guess it's such a violent action that it could damage any part of the piston.

A big rattle on cast pistons just about always breaks the ringlands.

what is your setup? fuel/tuning/turbo?

At that point everything was stock except for an AVCR and an HKS fcon

Is the EGR installed on the engine?

That's a rather confusing/non-commital answer.
Hope you don't expect much real help (besides guessing) for a cause with answers like that. :nono:

it was over five years ago and haven't given it much thought since. I don't expect anyone to put much effort into this thread but to see the carnage. If i want real information i'll provide more details and ask for more help. In the meantime i have another supra that is going into rebuild mode and will then start up a Q&A session with more detail.
