PC Virus, or some kind of spyware?

I have some weird virus or something, and I believe I've seen it before.

Basically every 20-30 minutes, I'll notice the current window I'm working in comes out of focus... as if another program was opened.

Which is exactly what happens.
If you "ALT+TAB" through the windows, you'll see an Internet Explorer window open with some "search results" for something.


Just wondering if anyone else has had this.... I figure once it annoys me enough, I'll just reformat it. :-\

Do you have a virus scanner? http://free.grisoft.com has a free one if you don't. You should also get a Adware scanner, like Ad-Aware by Lavasoft: http://www.lavasoft.com (there should be a free version somewhere there, might take a bit of searching though)

I just scanned with my old Ad-Aware, and so far the windows haven't opened.


Just curious if anyone else had this problem, or virus before.

So far seems my Ad-Aware nailed it... so I guess deleting a section out of my registry did the trick.

I have used Trend Micro's PC-cillin for the last few years. I highly recommend it, They have a free trial version also... $24 per year and it updates a few times a day. All in one...

i found a program called xoftspy. works great for removing adware, spyware, trojans, ect. ect. ect. works really fast. if ya like i could email you a copy. just pm me with you email.
