So today I noticed a squeaking noise coming from the front of my engine. Thought it was the belts and thought nothing of it at the moment because I was on the way to the mall with the gf.

Anyways, later that night I stopped at the gas station to get a soda, the GF stayed in the car so I left it running.

When I got back in, my eyes wondered to the temp gauge and the needle was at 75%. :aigo: I freaked out, turned the heater on and got out of there so I can start driving. As I drove and air passed thru the rad. the temp went back down to 40% where it normally sits since I bought the car.

WTF? Why did the temp creep up like that? I've never seen that happen before with my Supra. My guess is that the waterpump could be going out.

I'm about to do a NA-T conversion. Currently saving up for:

Timing belt
Tensioner
Front main seal
Waterpump
Thermostat
Cometic headgasket
ARP Studs

I'll be using Toyota parts except the HG and studs of course.

Anyways, it will be a good minute before I have the money saved up for these items. And I'm wondering what is causing this.

No not yet. I'll check all the belts tomorrow. Its already 11:00pm here so its kinda late to tinker on a car in a apartment complex parking lot. lol

I already know I'm going to be loosing sleep over this. I hope this isn't going to result in a BHG before I even buy the headgasket. I was hoping that this wouldn't happen before I do the conversion.

First, I'd check belt tension as AJ stated. Second, I'd check the water pump. There is a weep hole on the top of the housing, just behind the shaft where the fan and pulley bolts up. Also, I'd remove the belts, and spin all the pulleys(engine off), to make sure they all turn smoothly. replace any belts that are worn. Especially if they have a lot of cracks in them.
