Oil tube from valve cover size?

Hey need to get a oil hose to replace mine. its the oil hose that goes from the drivers side valve cover, its toward the front of valve cover and like 1/2 inch below the Oil cap and goes down below the alternator. Can someone tell me the length, and diameter to get and will a regular autoshop Hose work?
(its for 87 turbo auto.)

I am pretty sure the hose is 3/4" and is around 18 inches or so because there is a slight bend to it. I replaced mine a couple weeks ago and I recommend you take it off and then go down to the NAPA or whatever to get the best hose because it is form fitted. I got mine from Toyota and it is fairly pricey.

It is pricey, but I too went with the factory hose. Why???(you ask)...because I'll never have to replace it again.

Thanks for response guys, just picked up a 3/4 inch and 24 inch long (guy was like get 24 inch which i knew was to much, but got it to not look cheap lol) Hopefully it fits, doing the switch tommorrow, and will post if its wrong/different size. Thanks again!

Arghh, nope, nope, nope lol. Spent more time today trying to find the correct hose than total instalation time. Got 5/8 first...way too small, went and got the 3/4 inch and it took alot of work to just get it to fit on, but wouldnt go on more than like 1/5". Measures the original and actual size is 7/8 for anyone thats going to be changing this. The problem is nobody carries that size, I checked pepboys, autozone, home depot, lowes, and none of them carried a 7/8 hose. So i just heated the 2 ends of the 3/4 and they fit really snug, so tight i probably dont need clamps (but used them anyway)

Thanks for input,and the actual size is 7/8 but a 3/4 can be heated ...alot to fit snug on there. Oil leak , bye bye :wave:

Glad to hear you muscled the 3/4" on. Sorry about the wrong measurement because I thought that was the size from when I replaced that hose last month.

DOH sorry!

I stuffed up the Metric >imperial conversion right you are 22mm= 7/8 DOH!
(damn you'd never guess I do this all day long for a living )
