Is it very safe to say that by increasing your pump presure you help increase bearing life? Have any of you guys who had a proper rebuild stock or forged have bearing failure again? Considering the fact that you proably maintained your car.

The supra by nature is a low oil pressure engine. You can actually decrease the life of the bearings by increasing the oil pressure (I wouldn't have the oil pressure any higher than 50-55 psi at WOT).

Driz: Rough rule of the thumb is 10 psi per 1000 rpm to this I add another 10 psi on the top end so for me 8000 rpm = 90 psi.

JaV: There are no seals in out motor under Line pressure ;)

While I have all your ears I mind as well continue with the questions.

Cams. Brian crower 272..... what kind of rev capability we're talking to fully be using these cams?

JaV: Only pressure in the pan is from blowby so leaks there are usually from Cletus Mods to the PCV system which can cause the Oil to back up in the drain from the Turbo causing smoke.

Turbo's don't have "seals" as such but use a combination of piston ring seals sometimes a carbon face seal and a labyrinth seal so what is commonly thought of as "blown turbo seals" is more often a flooded turbo and once you correct the issue it clears out and is fine.

Driz: My cams are simular spec to what Brian is making and given the right supporting mods and enough Compressor flow it will make power to 8000.

I have no idea what pressure would need to be to cause it, but isnt it true that in a HVLP motor like the 7M extreme pressures can cause the oil to act like a "pressure sprayer" and "scour" the bearings?

Ive heard others mention this, but dont know what kind of truth there is behind it.
