I was just putting my motor together and would like some input on how close to put the mesh on the bottom of the oil pickup tube to the bottom of the oil pan. I was figuring about 1/4 inch.

yea as close as you can without it touching, that way, if you hapeen to not check it for a while and it runs low, it has to get really low to deprive the motor.
