What would be the best way of getting oil thats in my IC without removing it from the car? I'm thinking it will be with a blow gun but im curious to see what you guys might have in mind

How much oil are we talking about? A little oil seems to be normal but if its pouring out of the IC you may have a problem elsewhere.

Edit for spelling.. :) Thanks JJ

Hmm... that would be tough. A big enough crane could pick up your car by the rear bumper on the driver's side, that way it would dangle in the air the right direction to let the oil and gasoline flow out.

Personally, I'd want to shake it though, and that might be tough to do with a crane rated at 5+ tons.

If you want to clean it on the car you can flush the system using an AC flush gun. Or recirulate flush through it. I've done it both ways. All you need to do is make up an adaptor but what Joel said is right: if you've got lots of oil you need to correct that first. Turbo, PCV system, ect. Or it's time for a catch can.

Joel, it's "pouring" ;)

I guess my first question would be why can't you remove the IC? There are several methods you could use with it in the car, like jetjock's example above.

However I don't think it will do as good a job as the old "pour a gallon of gasoline into it and shake it" method... I've used that many, many times, and you get a very clean IC as the end result.

I should also add that my second post solution only worked after I fixed the oil leaking past my turbo shaft seals.

Syris: If you want it really clean the only way I can think of is pull the IC block an outlet pour some Gas in shake drain and repeat a few times!
(or you could get a crane...... ;) )

That'll work for the future, 7M-GTE, but for the here and now, I say Grim's method... err, i mean Mike's, Ian's suggestions. I've done it too with much success. pour a gallon of gasoline into the IC, swish it around in there, make sure it's getting as much coverage inside as possible, then pour some gross, brown gasoline out. Rinse, repeat.

agreed... I did this before I put my catch can on, but I used some paint thinner so there was no residue leftover... but I guess gas would only leave a small amount of lubricant so that'd work too...

I think the crane idea wins, hands down, no question. Make sure to attach the cables to something real sturdy like a sway bar, end link, or the spoiler though :biglaugh:
