i say try to do it your self....use the TSRM.
You'll save money in the long run.

Shops will be pretty pricey and trust me you don't wanna keep going back to them when something breaks youll save your save A LOT of money.

Seriously! If I were payed parts, labor and hours for working on my car, I would have made $10,000+ by now.:biglaugh:

Yes, I'm sure a lot of supra owner do that, including my self when i had no idea where my oil was going when i was younger. Just drive carefully and try not to boost like crazy.

RTV Black is a silicone gasket sealant with high heat and oil resistance. You can get it at every major auto store, usually the brand is permatex ultra black. I not sure if there is a way to get the pan off without lifting the engine out of the bay. There may be a simpler way, but I need to get back under the car before I can verify or dismiss that notion. The gasket itself is simple to remove, all you need is a chisel or a paint scraper. Putting the ultra black on is just as easy.

Supramacist: Didnt you have a valve job done when your head was at the shop? If so, they SHOULD have put new valve seals in. I'd check it before I took it apart. If not, well, the method mentioned by Jervis McStabby(lol, I love that name, snicker every time I see it) will work quite well for you.

Original Poster: My advice to you is to pull the head, get a valve job done, clean EVERYTHING(best degreaser I've found is "Solvs-it." It's a commercial degreaser for resturants, costs $10 a gal., and works better than anything I've tried to date), install all new gaskets, cam and crank seals, and the rest of the stuff I mentioned earlier, and torque the head bolts to 70+ ft. lbs.

Most Supra owners wind up doing this sooner or later anyway... might as well get it outta the way.

The valves were the entire reason I had my head rebuilt. It got new seals and everything. it took the guy nearly 8 months to get it back to me because he took all last winter off. He had it before june of last year.

He did everything except the port and polish. It only cost me 300 bucks so I was cool with it. But it did get new shims and seals.
