Newbie has a question

Just bought a 87 MKiii and also new to treads, its runs great but just has a small oil leak. i checked where the oil is coming form and its coming from the transmission? now i know its not transmission fluid because its very thin. i removed the clutch cover and oil was drip out. anyone know how or why oil would be in the transmission?:1zhelp:

Welcome to the world of Supras. More than likely a rear main seal, or could also be a valve cover seal leaking down the back of the engine.

Chip's got a point. If it was dripping out of the bottom of the bellhousing, loosen it up (gonna need some extensions, wobbly extensions are nice for this job) and pull the trans back a bit. If you have a good amount of oil in there, you've found your leak...

^Yep and itll either be dripping down behind the flywheel, or from the trans input seal (or the retaining plate for either one)
But thats only if your sure its coming from inside, could also be (as mentioned) valve cover gaskets, or oil pan seal.
Is the clutch res low?
