Have you ever seen a runflat tire off rim in person? They're ridiculously heavy, and they're firmer than the hinges of hell. Added to that they generally wear out faster and more unevenly than the same tire in its non run flat form. They're also a lot more expensive, and a nightmare to mount depending on the size.

They were designed for businessmen in luxury automobiles who cant be bothered to replace a flat on the side of the road, and the odd application where there was no spot for a spare tire (awd sienna's). If at all possible avoid them like the plague, that is until the design behind the runflats does some serious catching up.
