NA intake cam Question for 7m-gte

I was thinking of swaping cams. Would i have to do any work to the cam or would it just bolt right in. Also how much power will i gain by doing this. I heard that u will gain about 30hp. Is this true.

in short, no, you won't gain 30hp, and unless you already have the motor apart, it's not worth it. if you're going for more than 400hp, it's not worth it, the N/A intake cam will choke the motor around that power level.

Nothing new there. Less duration and lift will promote spool on a small turbo like the CT26, but eventually choke it off. I didnt realize the GE cam, from what ever was tested, had less duration. I know the lift is lower, as the repair manual lists a spec

I left out that the GE cam is made to promote scavenging on a naturally aspirated engine. That is why it has shorter duration(the amount of time the valve is open), leading to less overlap and lower cylinder pressure.

Keep in mind the GE cam profile changed to the Cressida cam. They are not all the same, when you see them on ebay. The Cressida cam and later Supra GE cam has much more cylinder pressure, which will make the CT come alive on a near stock car.
