well man that sucks.... I'm pretty sure I've got a bhg... I'm getting the head pressure tested tomorrow morning... will probably confirm my suspision... if it's not a bhg... I need to find out what the hell else I have to change in my cooling system to stop it from getting air in the lines... :S

Im pretty sure im running on a BHG as well. Loosing coolant quick and the temp likes to rise to around half the guage. Good excuse for a summer project.

Mom: why do you need this new turbo engine, and why not keep it autmoatic?
Me: Because I said so.
Mom: okay..

Yeah time to start savin up for my A70's birthday. Shell be 20.

i'm going to try some stopleak tomarow. that should hold it off for a while. but i need a total rebuild for shur. rod knock isn't too bad yet but if that stopleak works then i'll definitely do an oil change. no milkshake for me. :evil2:

ya, I'm blowin coolant out of my overflow (it's always at the very top when the car is hot)... no milkshake oil or oily coolant yet.. so maybe I'll be able to get the hg done on time before i do any engine damage.. I think it's just a leak in the hg forcing air into my lines... compression test tomorrow will let me know if that's true...

I lost all the coolant in my entire car in 10 minutes and it was caused by the radiator cap. Check that first, also check for pinhole leaks.

Please elaborate?

Well...think about it getting into a cylinder...DOH!
or into your oil...DOH!
or into your turbo water seals...DOH!
or into your radiator...DOH!

This is a forced induction engine...it's probably not going to work due to the pressure put on the HG. Plus that stuff can get forced into any of the places above and cause all kinds of mischief. Bandaids do not work on the 7M.

But...it's your motor, you have the right to do as you wish.

yea... i said fuck that and now i'm in it for the long haul, mhg here i come. nothing major until i'm ready to compleatly rebuild my motor. i'm going titan 1.4mm. my friend and i will be taking this on starting sunday.

i'm positive it's the hg because i can smell burning coolant, my engine was steaming when i shut it off today and my # 5 or 6 (cant remember which at the moment) had coolant cooked on it.

Good call ;)
Consider a Cometic MHG...been used with great success and is a little more forgiving concerning surface RA.

The surface RA on a Cometic is 50 or less...both the block & head will have to be decked to that spec for it. Get ARP head bolts or studs (studs are better). There's been a few re-build threads recently and there's more info in the reference section you probably want to read before you attack this.

i've been looking all night for a solid write-up.
i'm planning on arp studs, i've heard very good things.
are there any other parts i'll have to replace? i really don't want to find out later that i needed some random little part that costs an bunch of money and is on backorder for the next few months or something.
