My Black 91 Project

So a month ago I found a blk 91 supra na on craigslist. The kid wanted 1500 for it. The motor was blown. Tires were flat or dryrotted. Some of the interior was missing from the hatch area. The dashboard was cracked and there was some rust on the right quarter panel. I was able to haggle him down to $900. It came with an extra na head. Dual sub/box and an alpine headunit. Got it towed to my garage. Started buying some things for it. So it's black. 7mge/AT Shadow gray interior. 5 spoke 16" wheels. Power Moon roof. 6 1/2" speakers in the door. Tems. ABS. No spoiler. eBay headers/dp.

Yea I'm liking the big power moon roof. I'm going to miss the targa though. Now I get the best of both worlds. The air above my head and the stability!!

So I bought some things for it in the past month. Started taking it apart. The kid I bought it off of said the motor had bent valves. Thats why he gave me an extra head i guess. I heard it could be rod knock though. Here is what I've done so far.

pulled the dash

dash was cracked horribly!!

Also bought a new dash and 3pc spoiler. Only thing is the dash is gray and i need shadow gray. So I'm gonna paint the whole interior black. The spoiler is silver so I'm going to paint the whole car silver...jk

My best friend and I Swapped over my suspension and wheels from my red one that I'm now selling for reasons i'm not getting into now. TEIN SS Coilovers and 17x9 & 17x9.5 Work VS-XX.

Don't worry I'll probably lower it more later on.

Unfortunately the car was sitting outside for a year or two in their driveway in the sun with the windows rolled up so it dried out and cracked like hell!! Suprisingly thats the only thing wrong with the interior. Nothing else is cracked.

Are there any differences between the dashes from a 86-88 and 89-92? mounting points? The only difference i know off is the panels are different under the steering wheel. anything else?

ha yeah, weird though my car sat in the driveway the same way in the sun and all but the dash is fine
but the head rests on the rear seats look like that (the rest of the rear seats are mint though its like a wtf) and my drivers seat, i always make sure to load the dash up on leather conditioner

IIRC The dash is the same through all years.

Damn good price for that car! Seems to be in very good shape. Tell me the VG30DETT isn't slated for the Supra, though....

So I found a nice machine shop near by. I also found a good deal on some nice forge pistons 40 overbore. Gonna pick up a VG head from the local junkyd and have it decked and ported and polished. I'll see if I can get some pics up when I get them.

Got a gallon of purple power yesterday. Time to start cleaning up the engine bay. I'll work on that today and tomorrow. Will also start sanding down the spoiler I bought. Pics will be up soon.
