on cars with carbeurators...that is, with no electronic limiting through the computer you can. 7M's ECUs have rev limiters built into their programming, and an external ignition modifier like your MSD cannot remove that.

ontop of that, there should be no need to increase the stock rev limit unless you have some serious modifications. If you do have modifications to take advantage of it, you better have even more to help keep the bottom end and valvetrain together at that speed. Pistons speed is already stupid fast at 6500rpm with the 7m's long stroke.

oh ok. so what good does the msd do me right now then?

multiple spark discharge (more than once per combustion cycle) at low rpm. can give better idle. releases higher voltage, single charges at higher rpm I believe...but could be wrong. In theory it would improve lower end torque, response and efficiency by burning all the gas in the combustion chamber. It would also prevent the spark from blowing out in higher rpm, high compression engines.

However, the ignition system is considered more than adequate on stock and mildly modified 7mges.

it's popular with modified domestics that have old, inadequate ignition systems.

dont give up so soon! n/a's arent so bad, plus there alot more reliable and def cheaper than our turbo brothers. trust me i own both ive put more money into my turbo than ill ever need to drop into my n/a just getting it running right.
