I purchased MKIV motor mounts for my 91 and know that I need to grind off the lower nipple. But regarding the top, the threaded stud on the MKIV mount is shorter than the stock MKIII. The only way to get enough thread through the nut is to leave off the solid black bracket, heat sheild, and the flat washer that goes directly under the nut. Leaving the lock washer-nut holding the MM in place.

1. Do I just leave the pieces off and go with just the washer/nut?

2. Have the mm bracket, that bolts to the block, machined to make room so all parts can fit?

thanks
