I used to have an 1985 rx7, and i was scared to drive it. That thing was tiny! me and my friend could pick the front clear off the ground!

We used to be able to parallel(sp?) park my 88 Hyundai Excel spots by getting a person at each wheel well and lifting it into place.

LOL we drive missles they should have sent a bunch of supras to iraq to instead of tanks we would saved alot of money we could also have M16s sticking out of the targa top j/k

I have a friend that was in Iraq. He drove a white 2000 Tacoma with a .50 cal machine gun mounted on the roll bars and 2 12" woofers in the back seat.

"Supra 82-90"

Hmm I dunno, seems kind of strange. I doubt the MKII and MKIII are similar in a crash.

But funny nonetheless.

LOL found another one.

basically the top one points out that mk3's are not so great at driver protection in a crash, but they are significantly more likely to damage other people in other cars in crash tests. its a tank

edit, also it says if you want to head on impact someone in a crash and live, hit a renault..

It says that our cars are given a XX rating that means "significantly more harm then others" as far as damage to other cars. Out of the 6 cars on the yellow list, the "81-90" supra is the only one to even have one X in that column. It also got 2/5 stars for preventing injuries according to that chart.

Also, someone hit my car with an f150. It put two dents on top of the trim in the back left corner and took alot of paint off the bumper. All it did to his truck though was crack the front lower part of the overfender and get paint on his chrome bumper. It was <5mph and all cosmetic.

thanks guys! :)

as far as driver protection goes, that's bs. i've seen pictures of mkiii's totaling 18-wheelers, 80mph head-on collisions with power line poles where the windshield didn't even crack, and the driver walked away. our cars are freaking tanks.

If I was President, I would tell them to make me a Supra-One instead of Cadillac-One

i got rear ended by a stealth(3000gt) and all i got was some scratches in the rear bumper that were easily fixed and also his whole front end on the ground and hood above the roof of the car. He had to jump on top of the hood to get it down far enough to see over and his head lights were trashed. his front bumper was facing the ground.

i hit a 40mph sign doing 45mph 3 years ago back when i had the 7mge...

needless to say the cars injuries consisted of a passenger front flat tire and a dented license plate.

the sign was unsaveable :)

are the cars REALLY that tankish? i mean, some of this stuff seems insane? i'm hoping it is, because now i can show this to my roomies to stop them from giving me hell for driving a "no airbag deathtrap" or "if you get hit in that, you're dead" kind of comments. they're just jealous b/c they don't have a targa.

^^ if i could find the clip of cops, they would beleive you,
a semi was doing 60 and t-boned a silver MKIII, no airbags, and was a family of 3 little girl in the back seat mom and dad up front, the mom broke here leg, the rest got scratches. the semi pushed the MKIII about 3 feet(no joke) and came to a stop.
now i wanna see a honduh with airbags do that.

First off leeme ask If your wearing your fully functional SEATBELT, why would you need an airbag blowing your body and face bakewards? Second the only crash test data I could find is at the link below so Im not sure where the second posters data came from since it seems the NHTSA didnt do a crash test on MKIII's. I have fist hand experiece with the robustness of our cars, my wife ran over the drivers front side while parking with our lifted large tired dodge van and the van kinda got the worst of it. A good way to judge a cars ability in crash tests is the weight of the doors, theres no doubt our doors are solid since they feel like bricks.

Damn CJ, bullet proof sawblades :D:D:D

Yeah, as thick and heavy as they are, they probably are BP. I tried to get my buddy to bring over his surface to air missle battery to attach to the back of the car.

The funny thing was when I was taking those pics, a cop happened to be driving my. That was quite interesting. I almost went to jail. I guess that cops dont like assult riffles. I wonder why

I was hit head on by a Cadillac years ago. I was doing 55MPH. He was doing 15MPH turning left without paying attention, right into the nose of my oncoming Supra. I had the targa off.

Final results:
Car was pinched 1" shorter than before. Targa would no longer fit.
Damaged bumper, nose, front DS fender, intercooler, radiator. I could have drove it home if the radiator hadn't gotten punctured.
Car was totalled. Parting out the old car + insurance money payed for my silver '87T. The rims on my silver car are from that black Supra. :icon_bigg
