alright well im told by my automotive teacher that to pass aircare (emissions) i can run 2 litres of methyl hydrate on a 1/4 tank of gas and knock my timing down to about 8 degreees and i will pass wil flying colors.. ahs anyone else done this? obviously i would not boost the car, and i would immediately after fill up with 94 octane...

You only need one litre for a full tank. 70:1 ration....instead of 17.5:2

You dont want to put so much stress on your engine. My trans am passed with flying colors it was almost a joke.

This has a more common name...methanol. The Supra Owners manual specifically recommends that you do not use fuels containing methanol...it is corrosive to the rubber parts in the fuel system.

It will also cause the engine to run lean. It will reduce CO emissions, slightly lower HC, and can actually cause NOx to increase due to the higher cylinder temps caused by the leaner mixture. if you use any alcohol to help emissions, run it for the minimum time necessary. A gallon to a half tank of gas will do the trick.

Ethanol will do the same thing as methanol and is not nearly as damaging to the fuel system. You can get it at the hardware store...denatured alcohol is ethanol with a very small amount of methanol added to make it unfit for drinking ;)

well.. it didnt pass.. i dont think i let it get into the fuel system enough or something... i pretty much poured it in outside the station haha... 1litre with 1/2 a tank... so i dont think it was enough and it wasnt early enough.. would decreasing my timing help?

im not sure that a liter would do it. one liter is somethin like 1.05 quarts, and jdub (i think) said to use about a gallon per half tank of gas. try upping the ethanol content.

well haha... good ole insurance scams!!! hahah i found out that if i insure my car as living here, but primiarly drive outside of my province then i dont need emissions! and i have to pay like 10 bux a month extra but w/e... insurance claims cant be voided because i OVER pay and so its win win :) extra 100 bux a year and no emissions :) works for me. on a side note, i need to get my regular fuel back in there.. i hate driving my car with noboost! haha
