Lightening a crazy thick flywheel via machining

Hey guys, I got my HKS GDmax clutch kit and noticed that it weighed the same if not more than the stock R154 assembly. I'll throw some pics up later, but for I word it the best I can. The flywheel seems to be unnecessarily thick, especially toward the outside. I was wondering if it was possible to machine off the grossly excessive weight off of it and have it balance or something. I think that I could save between 5-10 lbs.

Please give your input . .. with that said not an abrasive IMO.

If it's a cast iron flywheel I wouldn't do it.

Fluby and I agree, HKS' number goes to an answering machine inside an mountain in Japan. It just sits there with a blinking light.
