Ive had many people tell me to get contacts or Lasik...

but Ive had glasses since I was 12, and I can't seemyself w/o them now. I think my face looks weird w/o em (as if it didnt look weird enough anyway)

I am also 'legally blind' which would make contacts much more expensive, and may pose a problem in Lasik as my vision is so badly deteriorated.

Good luck w/ whatever you decide Kyle.

Once you have your spectacles off for a while, you get used to the look.

I used to think I looked weird when I shaved my mustache but I've been keeping it off for a few years now. I think it's weird when I let it go a few days without shaving.

I've worn contacts for... 5 years now.

I sleep with them in, and have the type that is supposed to be cleaned/taken out every night and tossed after two weeks... I wear a set for probably 5-6 months @ a time... Works wonders on saving money!

And, my eyes never get red or dried out. Sometimes they are a little blurry when I wake up, but other than that... I see like a fucking god!

I come from a land down under
LOL I was shortsighted so needed to hold shit close to see it but the astigmatism made it blurry close in......

A side effect of no glasses is you don't have the artificial focal length so things are seen in their true scale!!

GREAT for boobs at the Mall bad for Butts!

I sat staring at my hand for ages as it looked huge then when my dog came in her head looked enormous, it takes a few days to adapt to this effect!

I had PRK done about a year and a half ago when I turned 21. PRK hurts a hell of a lot more and has about a two week recovery time but after that it was amazing. Went from 20/90 in both eyes to 20/15 in both. I figure in the long run it will save me money over contacts or glasses ( I wore contacts before). MY mom had LASIK and loves it. My choice to do PRK was because thats all the military allows for fighter pilots, but I'm not in ROTC anymore so it doesn't really matter. I would definetly do it, but not before you are 21 and your eyes have stopped changing for at least a couple years. And make sure you don't have to do anything for a couple days.

my girlfriend just went to get it done last week. she went to 20/15 as well from not being able to see at all... she was super happy... im not super happy paying the 3 grand it cost lol but oh well ;) no more bitching about her glasses and im happy about that.

whats funny is the doc figured out she had astigmitism and large pupils, her last DR. didnt know a thing... they say the procedure makes large pupils worse but she says its the same nothing changed on that part.

Kyle, def check out contacts. I thought I would HATE them, I had to get a pair while I was waiting for my glasses to come in, I ended up virtually never using my brand new $600 glasses and always wear contacts. I thought I looked weird without glasses (worn em for like 5-6 years), but now I think its weird when I'm actually wearing glasses. They're really not hard to deal with at all. The first day or two will prolly take you a good 6 or 7 minutes to get them in, but after a few days you should be able to get em in/out in just about a minute. They really are sooo much more convenient than glasses.
Get the 2-week disposables, they're pretty comfortable, I like mine.

Disced, if you don't take out your contacts, your eyes don't get the oxygen they need, and your vision will decrease even faster.

the only thing that kicks more ass than wearing contacts is being able to wear oakleys.

i don't know if it came up in this thread, maybe i missed it, but is it true that your eyes keep getting worse when you wear contacts? i just started wearin' them, but it would suck to be dependent on them in my later years

Only if you don't let enough air get to them. They really shouldn't be worn more than 12-14 hrs a day. Of course, my schedule usually has me wearing them at least 18, but as long as you give them your eyes an hour or so before you go to bed and when you get up to get plenty of oxygen it won't hurt any more than glasses.
