I'm planning on picking up a 7mgte that needs bearings. If i wanna go the 'get a new block' route. what would the block need to have?

My 2nd hand :evil2: ...block will need honed ($5/cyl.) and cleaned and if you're using a mhg, a good milling to a low ra. If you're using forged pistons of a larger than stock size, the cylindars will need bored to the appropriate size as well.

2nd hand block. is there anything the block should come with? should i use anything from the old block?

Or you could just rebuild your old block unless you are hard pressed for time.
