Has anyone ever done the Dean Marcum Coolant sensor mod? I've seen the same write up posted up quite a few times before but it isn't exactly technical as its only 3 paragraphs long. I believe on another forum I saw people debating the safety of this mod and since it's so old skool I thought Id bring out this old fossil to check on opinions and the typical Pics, Hints, and References. :biglaugh:

Let's not... please just put the dust back on the bottle and carefully put it back where you found it. There are no gains to be found here other than running richer (which you don't want) and a timing bump (which you can be done other ways).

And before you ask, leave the VAF alone too.

Yeah thats what I thought, I haven't met many people who have performed the mod including the removal of the cold start. It would just be a slight increase in timing anyway right? I wouldn't even attempt the MAF mod anyways it doesn't seem like a good idea at all. :nono:

Removal of the cold start??? The injector? What the hell purpose is that supposed to serve? Damn, I'd ask where you're finding this stuff, but the unfortunately the net's full of this kind of garbage.

I'll save you a LOT of time and make it real simple: there's no *cheap* power to be had from the 7M-GE (if it's healthy that is... naturally fixing all the broken crap will help. ;) ).

First one is a well known mod and you can also tighten it to lean it out...

Second one is only for a screwed AFM...

Last one is idiotic...

hmm.. i heard of another way to getting around the temp sensor. corvette owners just bypass the coolant heater hose to the throttle. considering that out entire intake throttle the head is metal... then again its just a matter of time before the intake warms up from the head back to the throttle

Guys, these "mods" are 15+ years old. We've learned a lot about these cars since then..

Supras.com is a great "historical" reference, and the old mailing list still has a few people on it (including me, I just don't post anymore), but it's the past. We've got much better information here.

Leave these old mods as a piece of history, please don't try them on your car.
