knock sensors

my car is getting the infamous knock sensor code since i started it up after the rebuild. now my knock sensor worked perfectly fine before so i dunno why im getting this now. But ok one quick question for the 2 knock sensor if I had the plugs on backwards would that causes this code? or does it not matter wich one plugs into wich?

It doesn't matter what plug goes to either sensor. As long as the ECU gets a signal from both, it will be fine.

is it often the wires that fail and not the knock sensors?
