Long story short Grim, it was told to me like this. The American Dream is such that I can go to America, live in freedom away from persecution of my own homeland, while adopting the American ways and lifestyles at the same time as not to impose my thoughts, ideas, religions and own lifestyle upon the American people.
Wow! I was completely off base then, I thought the American Dream was something that Americans had. :)

Keep in mind that closing the border and walling yourself in isn't the solution either, the CCCP gave that one an honest effort and look where it got them.

I think the melting pot theorem might work... if it's applied on a global level. Anything less is a recipie for failure.

I also think that tomorrow's society is not going to look like today's - and the morals of our forefathers *might* be a valid part of the future, but their written rules are not.

We should figure out what kind of a life we want to offer our children - and by that I mean everyone born into the same human race as I am - and figure out how we are going to create it for them. If that means building a global infrastucture that supplies our wants and needs at no cost and repairs itself, fine, lets do it. If it means dissolving a government, or 2, or 40 for that matter, why wait?

We will have the technology to create food, literally, from it's component elements, in very little time. The same technology will be able to create just about anything we want or need, and keep the human body healthy at nearly any age we want for easily double our current lifespan. If we take away the need for every family to provide basic requirements for survival for their children... what are we left with? What would the human race do with it's time if 90% of it wasn't wrapped up in providing for these needs?

I know I will get flamed for this but...its all about Sin. Ever since Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden man has had a sin nature. Yes, I am saying that people are bad at heart. We are selfish, arrogant, proud and just downright sinful at heart. No one...I repeat NO ONE is good on their own. And religion is so heaven-sent. Where else would religion come from? I myself am a Christian and its said in the Bible that man has a sin nature and we can never get rid of it. The only way to make life any better is to follow Christ, have faith in the Bible and try to live like Jesus did. Thats pretty much the answer to every question in this thread.

that all depends on how you look at it, I in particular dont warship any gods, however, I dont flatly deny in their existance. my theory is that if you believe in yourself enough, there is no need to believe in a god, I also found that self-worship is much less dissapointing than relying on someone else to perform your miracles. I just dont see how anything whether god or human could possibly be omnipotent. thats all, I'm done.

Very good! You don't need to teach a child to share, love, or be kind. But you know what? That kid from the womb knows how to hate, steal, lie and hurt. Funny isn't it?

And you make a very good point. We are nothing without god or Jesus in our lives. NOTHING. We are a sinful nature beast, and won't ever be "clean".

Also, on your journey through life and meeting non-believers..... Christianity is the ONLY RELIGION on the plannet, that if you COULD follow it to a "T", the world would be perfect. There would be no killing, mass bombings, Jihads, etc etc etc. It would be PERFECT. It is the owners manual for being human!

switching again........

So I have these mexicans who always swing by here looking for vehicles to buy.... ussualy trucks if they sit there for awhile..... they buy them in the states and take them back to Mexico and sell them for an outrageous amount of money.... I think they said a $500-1000 S-10 (5 sp) could go for as much as $4500-to anything in certain parts of Mexico............

Why the hell can't I do this? The d00ds even told us they were only going to do this for 7 years...... why? Because thats when they're tax breaks are over, straight out of their mouth........

Also, does anyone have any experience going out of the country...... How much stuff is writin in English? Haven't been out of the country, so I wouldn't know. All I know is all of this Spanish bullshit is getting old, I can't even treat patients at the hospital because they can't speak english.... Try telling them to take in a deep breathe and hold it...... Try asking the little girl what hurts......... it's impossible and just sad. If they're so hard-working, why don't they work on English every once in a while. Now I have treated Spanish patients who spoke English, and I know they aren't ones to bitch about little things, and they actually do the stuff the docs say to help them get better faster, but I'd say it's a 10:1 ratio though.......

Damn this stuff gets me going.

I've been to Europe(Germany, France and Austria) and alot of stuff is written in English and alot of people know English pretty well.(better than my German anyways) I know in Frederick(second largest city in MD) there are alot of places that have spanish signs and whatnot as well as English. There is also a large and growing population of hispanic peoples that work in the area. There is alot of construction and landscaping going on around here and that attracts them like flies to...honey.

Man was made in the image of a perfect god, but man is not perfect. Man was born into sin. Among these sins are blasphemy.
Man can be very generous, and yet is also capable of being very greedy. By greedy, I mean that he may not live by the "good book" because it's not an easy way of life and he has OTHER things that he may want to do. Something might be easier. Making life easier may be due to lazyness, or sloth, another of the sins.
Because of this, not everyone could follow it to a "T". The nature of man will not allow all examples to follow this supposed perfect owner's manual. This is why it's only perfect in theory.
You know, there is another way of life that is perfect IN THEORY. It's called communism.

Grim: I agree. Im not going to force you or any one else to do any thing. But in Christianity, we believe whats printed in the Bible as truth. If didn't tell you the TRUTH, then I have failed as a Christian. If you choose not to believe me and go about another way, then I still hold you as a friend and must let you travel down your own path.

Medic:
Interesting comparason, but one is for human life and spiritual grown and the other is for the growth of an economy and wealth.

Living a Christian life is all about faith.

Matthew 17:20 He(Jesus) replied, "Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."
